The next CNP Conference in Abuja is titled the 'Law & Order and Free & Fair Elections' it promises to be topical, challenging, passionate and relevant to the events of the day. The motive here on this forum, is to table a debate on the current state of affairs, regarding security of life and property, including food security (a subset of the main theme Law and Order), while injecting the ubiquitous clamour for a reformation and an overhaul of the Nigerian electoral process as a sub-theme of discussion in the Free and Fair Elections arena. The Uwais Report is a starting point of the discourse in this reformation journey.

We invite you all to participate in a healthy debate on these pertinent issues of the day here in this forum, feel free to take off the gloves and peel back the layers of concerns while making a deposit by way of positive suggestions and contributions. Let us move this discourse forward.

Thanks

I guess the questions are: how in God's name do we as Nigerians, reverse the trend of our largely tottering law-abiding and orderly (ordered) citizens from toppling over the precipice that we currently find ourselves and can we REALLY organise credible elections that EVERYONE accepts to move Nigeria forward, mmm?

Law and Order; Making votes count including votes from members of the Nigerians in the Diaspora, Security of Life and Property; what do they translate to?

1. State Policing - policing has to be brought to the the local commuity. The felons, urchins, robbers and kidnappers are known locally and celebrated, even. The ploce will only obtain good intelligence if the are seen to be a part of the community.
2.Making Votes Count: Diaspora voting rights should be at the fore-front, and reforming the Electoral process is something we all can contribute to, by making sure we are registered to vote and go out to vote on Election Day. PARTICIPATE!!
3. Fast forward to the Spring of 2011, and the people's choice is now in Aso Rock, then what?!! I say, begin the immediate implementation of the 10 Critical Sectors as advertised by CNP, with measurable milestones and metrics for their implementation. And a commitment from all stakeholders to make the implementation succeed.

No State Police,oh! I beg! Bad Idea!! Instead let us train the ones we have properly and equip them to succeed. I like the idea of the CNP ctitical Sectors. Very Good!

I concur with Salamatu..State Police not a good idea. Let us fix the elections, making it free and fair, first. other this will fall into place

BTW, I saw the agenda for the CNP conference in Abuja on the 6th of May; is Goodluck really coming? does anybody know? or are these CNP people just bloody jokers?
